easy cookies for Santa, a recipe kids can help with!


On Christmas Eve setting out a plate of cookies for Santa is one of my favorite childhood memories. Growing up, we went all out with the Christmas traditions, complete with milk for Santa to wash down his cookies, and carrots for his reindeer! Do you have similar childhood memories? If you are looking for ways to continue the magic of the season try getting the kids involved in making their very own cookies for Santa! As you celebrate the holiday season together, you can create timeless memories you will hang onto for years to come. To make these cute holiday themed cookies you only need 4 ingredients (and a sweet tooth). 

easy cookies for Santa recipe for kids

you will need:

  • Pretzels in the traditional "twist" shape
  • Colored button shaped chocolate pieces
  • Rolled chocolate caramel candies
  • Candy "eyeballs" (you can find these in the baking or cake decorating aisle)
  • A cookie sheet and parchment paper

instructions: 

  • Line the baking sheet with parchment paper and preheat your oven to 300°F
  • Place the pretzels on the baking sheet 1 inch apart, filling the entire sheet
  • Unwrap the caramel candies and place 1 per pretzel
  • Add 1 colored chocolate to the top of each caramel candy
  • Bake for only 3 minutes or until chocolate begins to soften
  • Pull out of the oven and add the candy "eyeballs" to make the pretzels look like reindeer faces 

tips:

  • Because the chocolate will be warm you may want to finish off this part and let the kids watch
  • Place the cookies in the refrigerator for 10-15 minutes to help them cool and  harden
    These easy to make reindeer cookies are a fun way to get the kids involved in making cookies for Santa. Put on your Christmas pajamas, and enjoy making these cute cookies together on Christmas Eve. Plate your pretzel reindeers on your "Cookies for Santa" plate and set them out for the big guy himself! Fair warning, these reindeer themed cookies are so easy to make, and just as easy to pop into your mouth for a quick holiday treat. Whenever I make these adorable cookies, they always seem to disappear well before Christmas Eve!
